By jonb on 1/6/2006 5:16 PM

If your like me, you have more than once wanted to change the criteria wording for registering new users in DotNetNuke.

Here's where the ascx files are held:

The left hand column is here:

[portalroot]\controls\App_LocalResources\User.ascv.resx

and the right hand column is here:

[portalroot]\controls\App_LocalResources\Address.ascx.resx

DNN Module releases
By jonb on 10/28/2005 7:12 AM

I know I had written earlier that the module updates would come this week, but this whole house buying/selling thing is a real time consumer.

Anyway I was going to release them today, but I will be disconnected tonight and unavailable to answer any support questions that may arise, so I plan to release once I'm back online.

DotNetNuke module update
By jonb on 10/19/2005 7:42 AM

DNNI have updates to a few modules of mine as well as some new modules slanted for release next week. I would release now but I will be in Kansas City the next few days and don't want to have any issues come up and end up with a bad response time in the support department.

I've got a patch for the Caption Contest module that will be released next week. This patch covers issues with friendly URL's. Soon to completion will also be the voting capabilities.

The service scheduler will also be getting some updates but I'm not sure if they will be ready by next week, but there is a few usability updates that might be released. This one is very in-depth changes and I want to make sure that all the bugs are out before I release as many places use this very dependently.

I also have two new modules that I have been working on for some time that should be ready for release next week as well. The first is a workflow module that allows you to set editor and approval roles to manage content and keeps track of changes and logs the creating and approving users for audit trails. This is a BIG thing with Sarbanes Oxley governed sites.

The second new module is a very simple blog module that is for users new to DNN and blogging that will get them up in running in under a minute. I am hoping to have it integrate with the built in search and RSS of DotNetNuke but those areas are yet to be written. This module may be pushed into the following week if things get really hectic next week or I run into problems.

Both of the new modules have been a long time in the making so hopefully all the bugs are out. I have actually been using the Workflow module in production for a couple of weeks now with zero problems on some of my sites. Look for both on snowcovered.com in the next week or two.

Forum Official

The DotNetNuke forum project has been released. I can't wait to try it out and see the improvements over the Beta, which in my opinion wasn't very good.

DNN 3.1.1 released!
By jonb on 8/23/2005 7:47 AM

DotNetNuke 3.1.1 was released this weekend! Sorry I didn't post earlier but I had alot of catching up to do after being gone over the weekend and I just found out this morning.

New Features I've found so far:

  • way faster than version 3.1
  • new install screen
  • able to upload images via the FTB
  • able to create new folders via the FTB
  • able to set a page refresh to any page via the settings

Some of these (page refresh) may have been in the last version but I just noticed them now. Huge thanks goes out to the core team for making this possible!

DNN 3.1.1 on the horizon
By jonb on 8/2/2005 7:41 AM

Been hearing some rumors that DotNetNuke 3.1.1 is on its way to release soon. Not that I don't like a quick release all the time (shows the project is growing) but man, I barely have had time to get 3.1 familiarized. In fact majority of my hosted sites are still running 3.0.12 or .13 but thats cool as all version 3 releases have been really stable and not much differences that affect me or my clients.

I really want to find more time to do some more module development but lately things have been pretty crazy. Hopefully after I return from WeFest this weekend I will have more time to get some stuff released. I have updates to 3 of my commercial modules but don't want to release while I'm out of town and unplugged for the most part besides the Blackberry.
